From Stains to Shine: Our Favorite Amazon Cleaning Products Reviewed

Queen of To Do has seen hundreds of households over the years around Austin, TX, which means we know a thing or two about what’s helpful to have around the house! This is the first in our series of our favorite household products, and this one is all about cleaning, whether that be counters, floors, or pet stains.

Having the right tools makes it easy to keep the floors and carpets clean. Speaking from personal experience, having a kickass vacuum that gets *everything* (and I mean everything) in one pass makes vacuuming waaay less stressful and time consuming. We also love having a spot cleaner on hand, as it can tackle a range of stains, spills, and messes.

• Miele makes some of the best vacuums, especially if you have pets (this coming from someone who has five cats and endless amounts of cat hair!) You can’t go wrong with any of the models, they all have incredibly strong suction power and will last for years.
• The O-Cedar EasyWring mop makes mopping a breeze. The wringer keeps your hands away from dirty mop water and has reusable machine washable mop heads. 
• For wiping up a quick spill without making a bucket of mop water, the OXO spray mop is a fantastic option. It has a reusable bottle so you can choose your own cleaning solution and has washable microfiber pads.
• For spills, pet/kid accidents, and general spot cleaning, you can’t beat the Bissell SpotClean Pet Pro. Stains don’t stand a chance, even if they’re old! It also works amazingly on furniture or car seats to remove general grime and dirt.

We like to have a few different spray cleaners on hand. A foam cleaner for soap scum and heavy dirt, a heavy duty dish soap, a general all purpose cleaner, and whatever specific cleaners are needed in your home (granite spray for granite counters, wood cleaner for tables/furniture, glass cleaner, etc.) 

• Kaboom foam cleaner cuts through grease, soap scum, and dirt with ease. The foam turns white as it powers through the grim and has a pleasant odor, perfect for a deep clean.
• Caldrea makes a variety of cleaners, soaps, room sprays, and laundry products, all in amazing scents like pear blossom agave, rosewater driftwood, or basil blue sage.
• Dawn Powerwash spray (and refills, because you’ll want ‘em!) is great for dishes but especially grease. It also can be used as a spot treatment for laundry (like grease stains!)
• For specific cleaning sprays (wood, granite, glass, degreaser), we like Method products. Made from plant based ingredients and most are non toxic. They also sell large quantities of cleaning solutions for refilling smaller bottles!

Gone are the days of cleaning with just paper towels, because cleaning is much faster, easier, and more eco-friendly when you have the right scrubbers, towels, and brushes. And bonus, all of these can all be washed (via the top rack of the dishwasher) and sanitized in between uses.

• Love the Mr Clean Magic Erasers but hate the high cost? Grab a pack of melamine cleaning sponges, it’s the same thing but generic instead of name brand.
• Scrub Daddy/Mommy scrubbers are popular for a reason! They’re simply the best for multipurpose scratch free scrubbing.
• For dishes, having a brush that dispenses soap makes cleanup so much easier. We like this Scotch Brite one as the bristles are antibacterial!
• Microfiber towels are a great eco-friendly alternative to paper towels. Use them for dusting, polishing, cleaning, whatever, and just throw them in the wash when you’re done!
